Andrew Yeager
Andrew Yeager is a Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC) and New Jersey certified school psychologist, presently working in the Park Ridge School District in Park Ridge, New Jersey. Andrew has worked as a therapist specializing in addictions for the past 30 years. His first position in the field was with the Bergen County First Step Detox Program, the first non-medical alcoholism detox program in the state. From there, he worked at Arms Acres in-patient adolescent substance abuse unit. He was then hired as Clinical Manager at Parkside Lodge/Eagle Hill in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. In 1995, after 15 years in the substance abuse field, he returned to New Jersey to work as a Student Assistance Counselor (SAC), first in the Cliffside Park Public Schools and then the Park Ridge Junior-Senior High School. During that time, he was appointed Educational Coordinator at the Bergen County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence where he was responsible for the supervision of many SACs throughout the county. He subsequently founded and coordinated the Bergen County Association of Student Assistance Professionals. He was elected Vice-President of the Association of Student Assistance Professionals of New Jersey (ASAP-NJ) four years ago, and served two terms until his election as President in 2012. Andrew conducts trainings and lectures throughout the United States on addictions, bullying, Internet safety, adolescent risk perception, and suicide prevention. His television appearances include CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS, NJN, UPN, and WINS (New York) radio. Andrew is a Co-Executive Producer of the Internet safety films Sticks and Stones (cyber-bullying) and The Web (sexual predation) and has written the Teacher’s Guides for these films and other educational programs, including the DWI prevention film Stoned Cold, which was Nominated for an Emmy by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2001. In 2011, Andrew became Chase Wilson Education’s Director of Educational Programs. Since then, Andrew has developed the “4 Pillars” structure for CWE’s educational programs and oversees the development and creation of educational content for CWE’s programs.
