Alvin J. Brown
Welcome — and thanks for stopping by. I'm Alvin J. Brown, founder of Belize With Alvin, a Belize travel business that helps travelers understand, plan, and experience Belize through local guidance, personalized trip planning, private transportation, and guided experiences. I'm a licensed Belize Tour Guide registered with the Belize Tourism Board, born and raised in Belize, and proud to be part of Belize's tourism industry. I grew up in Placencia back when the village still ran on diesel generators. We pushed wheelbarrows across unfinished boardwalks and fished by watching pelicans track baitfish. Today I live in San Ignacio, where rivers wind through limestone valleys and ancient Maya cities rise from the jungle. Living in both places has given me a unique perspective on Belize—from the Caribbean coast and Barrier Reef to the caves, rivers, and Maya sites of the west. Over the years I've worked with travelers from around the world, helping them understand how Belize fits together. Most people don't struggle because Belize lacks things to do—they struggle because they don't yet understand how the country connects. That's become the heart of my work. When I'm not guiding guests, planning trips, or exploring Belize, I write. Sometimes about weather. Sometimes about language. Often about the people who shaped me—like the old men who taught me to fish, barefoot and patient. These writings aren't always polished. But they're honest. If you've ever wondered what Belize looks like through the eyes of someone who lives it, this is that view. This WordPress.com site is a companion journal to my main website, BelizeWithAlvin.com. While my main website focuses on helping travelers understand, plan, and experience Belize, this space lets me share the stories that don't always fit inside a travel guide. This space lets me share the stories that don't always fit inside a travel guide—personal reflections, local memories, and the experiences that continue to shape the way I see Belize. Think of it as the backpack I carry between the reef and the ruins. If you're planning your first trip to Belize—or simply curious about the country beyond the postcards—I hope these stories help you connect. Not just with where to go, but with why it matters. Walk With Me. I'll Show You My Belize. — Alvin
