Gregory Blotnick
Gregory Blotnick is the founder of Valiant Research. Blotnick is an experienced investment professional with over a decade of expertise in equity research, portfolio management, and fund operations. His career began in 2009 during the post-financial crisis recovery, when he joined Doubloon Capital and learned long/short equity. Over the years, he has worked at several leading hedge funds, including Citadel and Schonfeld, developing a diverse skill set that bridges deep fundamental research with tactical trading. Blotnick’s investment focus has consistently centered on the Consumer and TMT sectors, where he has developed a reputation for uncovering structural shifts and identifying both long-term winners and deteriorating business models. Early in his career, he worked at North Elm Capital using a "credit approach to equity" investing, prioritizing balance sheet strength, cash flow sustainability, and downside protection. This framework continues to shape his analytical process today, blending core principles of credit analysis with behavioral finance insights. In 2017, Blotnick joined Citadel as an analyst on a team managing over $1 billion in gross market value. There, he specialized in catalyst-driven trading, earnings revision analysis, and relative value positioning across the consumer discretionary and staples sectors. He later joined Schonfeld Strategic Partners, contributing to a $400 million market-neutral portfolio and executing sector-balanced strategies with strict risk controls. Blotnick's investment approach reflects a hybrid of long-term fundamental conviction and short-term trading discipline. His experience spans concentrated long-term positions, high-turnover strategies, and event-driven setups, giving him a broad perspective on public markets. He is particularly focused on identifying mispriced equities during periods of market dislocation, earnings inflection, or structural transformation...often where behavioral biases create opportunity. In 2019, Blotnick founded Brattle Street Capital LLC, an investment firm focused on long/short opportunities in small and mid-cap consumer equities. The firm emphasizes fundamental inflection points and seeks to exploit inefficiencies in misunderstood or neglected corners of the market. The strategy targets companies undergoing significant change, whether turnaround stories, capital structure shifts, or secular declines, while maintaining a disciplined approach to valuation and risk. Blotnick is a CFA Charterholder (2012) and holds an MBA from Columbia Business School (2014), where he concentrated in Portfolio Theory and Behavioral Finance. He earned a B.S. in Finance from Lehigh University (2009). In addition to his investment work, he is a frequent contributor to financial media, with commentary and analysis featured in Forbes, MarketWatch, Fortune, the CFA Institute, and other major outlets. His 2025 memoir, Blind Spots: A Riches to Rags Story, provides an unvarnished look at the psychological dynamics behind decision-making in high-pressure environments. The book explores behavioral pitfalls, market psychology, and the real-world consequences of cognitive bias in professional investing. Today, Blotnick continues to conduct market research, advise investment firms, and publish insights on behavioral finance, mispriced assets, and turnaround opportunities. He remains dedicated to helping investors better understand the emotional and analytical challenges of navigating volatile markets.
